THE TRIP TO MURMANSK
Each of the nine travelers interviewed here has come to this small Russian city at different times and for different reasons. So how come each of them seems to share the same memories composed of the same stories? When Pierre Lazareff asked Blaise Cendrars if he had really ridden the Trans-Siberian Express, Cendrars replied, "Whether I did or did not is of no matter; only the fact that I allowed everybody else to ride it." Drawing inspiration from this exchange, Philippe Prouff devises a strategy in which each person must convince us better than the last of the truth of their memories.
